After being closed for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Baltimore Museum reopened on Saturday, September 19th. This was my first time back in a physical art gallery since the start of the pandemic. It was a much more limited experiences, with restrictions on how many people were allowed in sections at a time. Many of the wings were closed, with the reopening set to happen over several phases.
I found myself focusing less on the actual content of the museum and more on the experience and the other museum goers. Shown above is a photograph of my mother. I thought that the two types of masks shown in the photo, the wooden African masks and the cloth mask, made it a much more engaging shot. I think that I was inspired more by the changes in the museum going experience than the art, something that I'd seen dozens of times before in previous trips.
