Photographing Skateboarders and Subculture

This is a multimedia photography project that examines the subculture of skateboarding and those who participate in it. The photos are taken in and around the city of College Park. It takes a look at the individuals who make up the University of Maryland skateboarding community and displays their personal experiences with the sport. Many different styles of photography are incorporated, including documentary photography, fine-art photography, and sports photography. The photos are also digitally manipulated in a program called Adobe Photoshop to create photo collages and add overlays of drawings. The goals of this project are to tell a narrative about people who hold great passion for what they do and to create visually engaging and exciting compositions. This collection of artworks is intended for anyone who has an interest in skateboarding or who would like to learn more about it.
